To create the perfect showreel I first needed to edit my videos together in a way that flows smoothly and highlighted the range of my performance skills. I wanted to make sure each piece was clearly introduced so I had a text over to show the title of each piece and credit the choreographer. for the editing process, I use an app called CapCut which made it relatively easy to trim my clips arrange them and add text in a clean and professional style. I was very mindful of the overall pacing of the show as I didn’t want to place too fast paced Upbeat pieces directly next to each other. Instead I carefully organise the order of the videos to create a more balanced and engaging flow, allowing each piece to stand out on its own.
When adding the text, I placed it at the bottom of each video clip to ensure viewers could easily see the important information without it becoming a distraction from the performance itself. Throughout this process, I was constantly thinking about how the showreel Would come across a different audiences making sure it was clear polished and professional.
One of the main challenges I faced during this process was trying to match the music with my edited footage. I found it difficult to find an app that allowed me to seamlessly integrate both video and audio together in a way I envisioned. This made it harder to fully visualise what the final product would look and sound like during the early stages of editing. However, this challenge pushed me to solve an experiment with different methods and tools until I found a solution that worked. Taught me a lot about persistence and importance of attention to detail and putting together creative project like a showreel.
